It was a memorable day for the National Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Nigeria (NCCM) at the commissioning ceremony of the NATIONAL GROTTO, AWARD GIVING AND FUND RAISING FOR A14-SEATER BUS which took place at Maria-Assumpta Parish,Olubadan Estate, Ibadan on the 21st October 2023.
The event began with the Holy Mass at 10am at Maria Assumpta, Catholic Church, Olubadan. The event was graced by the incumbent Archbishop of Ibadan and the Metropolitan of the See of Ibadan Archdiocese, Most Rev.Dr Gabriel ’Leke Abegunrin, the Emeritus Archbishop of the Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr Felix Alaba Job, the National Chaplain, Very Rev Fr Philip Ejopharughe, the Archdiocesan Chaplain, Very Rev Fr Felix Ethapemi, Fr Darlington Agubosim, Fr VincentAnuniru, the current priest-in-charge of Maria Assumpta, the National President, Prof Chioma Asuzu, the Archdiocesan President of CWO, Lady Clara Oke, National,Archdiocesan and Diocesan representatives of the Confraternity of Christian Mothersin Nigeria.
The diocesan chaplain during the homily admonished the members to followthe footsteps of our Mother of Sorrows, who was the perfect example of patience, humility and perseverance and to find time to pray constantly at the Grotto. The Chief Celebrant, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin, appreciated the Confraternity of Christian Mothers for choosing the Archdiocese to erect the Grotto,The Archbishop admonished the mothers to be loving, especially to their children as parenting needs to be done with lots of love in order to gain the hearts of our children and also correct or rebuke them in love. He advised that the Grotto should be aPilgrimage Centre.
The Grotto was commissioned after Mass in the presence of all the dignitaries. Furthermore, there was reception and fundraising for the purchase ofa 14-seater bus for the society at Hail Henrieta Hall where we have 78 Awardees who received beautiful Awards for their numerous supports to the Confraternity of Christian mothers in Nigeria.
The event was colourful with beautiful cultural presentations and generous people who donated to the fundraising of our 14-seaterbus. The National President, Prof. Chioma Asuzu, thanked in a special way the Chairman of the occasion,for his numerous supportsright from the building of the Grotto to the fundraising for the bus. We prayed that our Mother of sorrows will continue to intercede for him and his family through Christ our Lord. Amen. We equally prayed for all our donors, mothers and fathers whose support made this event a successful one.Mayour good Lord reward us all. Amen
